New Ambassador Program Launched 2020
17 June 2020 | SVIMF Latest News

The Ambassador network, the first volunteer program of SVIMF, was premiered by Tasha Montzka and Elena Kolbrek (Executive Director) this spring semester to expand the organization’s reach and provide more opportunities to collect donations of secondhand and new accessories. The program is inspired by the Minnesota Orchestra’s Student Ambassador Program, which empowers college students of any major and background in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas to spread the word of discounted tickets and college nights to students on their own campuses.
The SVIMF Ambassadors act as representatives, sharing the mission of enriching communities both close and far from home, through music and other educational outlets. They play a crucial role in the journey towards equitable musical opportunities for all, not only by impacting the inevitable growth of incoming donations for other students in need, but more importantly through sharing the projects the organization is working on and the communities that SVIMF is partnering with in South America.
The current Ambassadors are all musicians studying at six different secondary and postsecondary institutions around the United States. These volunteers range from 9th grade to graduate students, and they represent specializations in strings, woodwinds, and percussion. The inaugural group has gone above and beyond their commitment to the organization by offering their time to independent projects; their contributions have and will continue to be invaluable to the development of SVIMF as a whole.
Donations were sent to two different Venezuelan education programs: FIDAV in February 2020 and Mileyde Valera’s Violin Academy of the Jose Maiolino Conservatory in April 2020.
